Found Camp Miller

After the Christmas party I fed myself at my newest favorite burger place, Culver's. It was a chance get on the internet and watch a little football. Then back to the church for another sleep in the 20s. So grateful for this down bag I have had for over 30 years!!

Amazingly warm bag. Nose is cold but everything else nice and toasty. I make my way to starbucks in the morning to get ready for church at 10. Sherri told me she prayed specifically someone would offer me a place to stay. As soon as I entered the church Peter, who I had met on Wednesday, tapped me on the shoulder and told me to talk to his wife about staying at their place. Hallelujah! God is here! I told her I am not sure but later today I will know where I will be for the next part of my trip but I may come knocking on my last day before flying home. After church I headed back up the hills to find camp Miller.

Command tent

This is a camp for the volunteers and command central for coordinating all the work. I have received beta about this particular group from three independent sources so it sounds like where I should be.

I get there about 2pm. This is a video shows how to cross over to this camp.

When I arrived no one was there so I just waited. A little after 4pm someone showed that wanted to drop off supplies. I didn't know anything but figured one of the containers could probably hold it. So I helped them unload. While we did that a pickup with a popup trailer came into camp. We introduced our selves and helped him setup the trailer. His name is FJ! You can't make this stuff up. Waited a little longer for Jordan to arrived and then got word is was gonna be much later. They offered me a tent but I decided it is just easier for me to stay in my car. Another day done and I know where I am supposed to be. Hallelujah!

Next morning I wasn't sure when everyone gets up so I was awake but stayed in my cozy bag until I saw some action. Leida had prayed for me to meet some women and dogs to love on. Jordan sent me to the house for breakfast (this is a house on the hill above us the owner uses as a b&b). You guessed a woman and a dog. Not that I was needing this but how God answers the simplist of prayers is super sweet. Her name is Rebecca and she is from CA and her dog is Bella.

They have a list of chores to do and we started in. I heard they needed to fix the tarp at the supply station. So we headed down there to pickup some trash and propane tanks. They left me to make a dump run. So I decided to check on the tarp. It was sagging with water and mostly ice so I thought it would be good to work on it while it was still ice so it doesn't melt.

Oh, and there were lots of puddles on the ground that if I could take up the ice the puddles would not be as big. They weren't back yet so I started working on the tarp when FJ returned he was so impressed with me. Not for the work I was doing but for the initiative. I can relate to that sentiment.

Then back to camp and some more chores which included moving firewood. Reminded me of my days in forest falls.

Most of the wood is really wet so hard to get going but I have had success getting one going so I think I am now the go to firestarter. Go figure!
